Pune: A case was registered on Sunday against the owner, manager and bouncers of a restaurant along the Mhalunge-Nande Road for keeping it operational beyond the stipulated closing time of 1.30am. Pimpri Chinchwad police seized a music system, hookahs and other material together worth Rs10 lakh.
Deputy commissioner of police Vishal Gaikwad told TOI that after they received information about the restaurant flouting the closing time, they sent assistant police inspector Prasad Gajjewar and sub-inspector Tejasvi Jadhav to the spot.
The two officer were on night duty. “When the police team reached around 2.50am on Sunday, they found bouncers at the entrance and several vehicles parked on the premises,” Gaikwad said.
He said though the bouncers tried to stop the police, they entered the establishment and found over 150 customers. “Loud music was playing, and people were being served food and liquor. Our team told the customers to leave the restaurant and then searched the premises. They found 24 hookah pots in a locked room,” Gaikwad said.
The DCP said police seized the hookah pots, music system and other material worth Rs10 lakh from the restaurant. “We registered a case against the two owners, a manager and four bouncers under sections 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the BNS with the Bavdhan police,” he added.
